Here’s What You Can Expect
Mount Batur is part of the UNESCO Global Geopark Network and is considered to have some of the most stunning views on the island of Bali. Indeed, visitors often comment that their Mt Batur trek was the highlight of their vacation.
You’ll begin with a pick-up by one of our friendly, licensed, English-speaking drivers. Once you arrive safely at Toya Bungkah village, you’ll meet your guide for the trek who will brief you on history, culture and safety procedures for your trek.
You’ll follow your guide along the trail as the dawn light begins to brighten up the path and its surroundings. A beautiful sunrise view awaits at the summit, but there is plenty to see along the trail as well. Once you reach the top, you’ll sit and relax as the sun rises over the eastern sky. Your guide will begin cooking your breakfast over the volcanic steam as you take pictures or sit and enjoy the view.
When ready, you’ll begin your trek back down the mountain. On your way home, you’ll stop at a coffee plantation to taste some of Bali’s best coffee and tea. You’ll arrive back at your hotel in plenty of time to enjoy the rest of your afternoon by the pool, at the beach or for a massage.

What You Need for Your Sunrise Trek
The trek up Mount Batur is not difficult for those who are in relatively good shape and do not suffer from injuries; however, some people find it a bit strenuous when they are not used to climbing or hiking. We encourage all guests to prepare with light exercise and stretching before attempting any activity such as this.
For those that need a hand, our guides will help you make it to the summit and will hike at a pace that is most comfortable for you. We want you to experience the sunrise as it is quite remarkable, but getting to the top is not a race and it is always worth the effort, even if you get there after sunrise. Our guides are with you, helping every step of the way.
We suggest you bring the following items with you:
- Sport shoes (hiking boots are fine, but not required for this trek)
- Long pants and warm jacket
- Camera
- Sunscreen
- Clean shirt or towel (optional)
- Personal snack food or beverages (optional)

It’s pretty simple. If you don’t like it, you don’t pay. If you are not fully satisfied with your trek for any reason, just tell your guide at the end of your trek and we’ll refund the full amount of your fee, less any third party charges. This refund policy applies to all Mt Batur treks listed on our Guided Treks page.
