With a pre-dawn pick-up from your hotel, our safe, friendly and licensed driver will deliver you and your group to the base of Mt Batur in our air conditioned van. There, you’ll meet your guide for the trek who will provide you with a safety briefing and precautions. This is a good time to ask any questions before you begin your hike.
It will still be dark so each hiker in your group will get a flashlight before your ascent up the mountain. Your guide will gladly provide history and culture of the surrounding area during your trek and will be available to help those in your group who need it. Once at the top, you’ll rest as your guide will prepare coffee, tea, bottled water and breakfast cooked over the volcanic steam of the volcano. Relax, take pictures and enjoy the sunrise over the eastern sky.
When everyone is ready, you’ll hike along the crater rim and back to your transportation where you’ll be taken to one of two rivers; either the Telega Waja or the Ayung, whichever is more suitable for your family. Before you arrive at the river, however, we’ll make a quick stop at a coffee plantation where you can taste Luwak coffee and local teas.
At the river, you’ll get another safety briefing and receive necessary gear before you head down the river with its beautiful jungle scenery, waterfalls, ancient stone carvings and exciting rapids.
Afterwards, your guides will pack up the gear and you’ll be treated to an Indonesian style buffet lunch by our local chefs. Eat and drink at your leisure. Once you’ve finished, we’ll take you back to your hotel where you’ll still have time to relax by the pool, go to the beach or get a massage.
US $105.00 per person (minimum 2 people per group).
The fee covers all your costs including park entrance fees and taxes. Single travelers are welcome, but due to opportunity cost, a 50% additional charge will be included. You are welcome to bring extra cash for souvenirs and other items you wish to buy on your trip.
If you have to cancel, we regretfully understand and will grant you a 100% refund up to 3 days before your trek. If you need to cancel 2 days before, we can give you a 50% refund. Though our Mt Batur Sunrise Trek and White Water Rafting experience is considered moderately strenuous, most visitors have little problem physically. Regardless, we urge those who are not accustomed to an active lifestyle check with their physician before attempting an rigorous activity.
Light stretching and jogging is usually enough to prepare for both activities. Our guides are excellent at reading the physical capabilities of guests and will help you as much as you’d like. Their pace is as brisk as you’d like. They are always at your service with your safety and enjoyment as their priority.
Hiking boots are not required, but we do not recommend flips. Closed toe shoes such as running shoes or sneakers are fine, but expect them to get dirty and possibly wet.
We suggest you bring the following items with you:
Please expect anything you wear or bring with you on the river will get wet. Loud music and pets (too bad because we love animals) are not permitted on the trek or river.
Our guides are licensed professionals. They are trained in safety procedures should an accident occur while trekking or rafting. We are in contact with the mountain rescue team during your trek and can apply basic first aid for injuries sustained on both the volcano and the river.
Mt Agung is closed due to light volcanic activity, but Mt Batur is safe to climb. It’s proximity to Mt Agung is far outside the safety zone established by Indonesia’s Center for Volcanology of Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG).
